AN ACT TO PROVIDE THAT THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI REJECTS DAYLIGHT SAVING TIME AND SHALL REMAIN IN CENTRAL STANDARD TIME THE ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR; AND FOR RELATED PURPOSES.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI:
SECTION 1. (1) The standard time in Mississippi shall be the time of the ninetieth meridian west of Greenwich, commonly known as Central Standard Time.
(2) This section shall not be construed to affect the standard time established by United States law governing the movements of common carriers engaged in interstate commerce or the time for performance of an act by an officer or department of the United States, as established by a statute, lawful order, rule or regulation of the United States or an agency thereof.
(3) Notwithstanding the provisions of Title 15 USCA, Section 260a, or any other provision of law to the contrary by the United States Government relating to adoption of daylight saving time by all of the states, the State of Mississippi elects to reject such time and elects to continue in force the terms of subsection (1) of this section, relating to standard time in Mississippi.
(4) The rejection of daylight saving time as provided for in this section may be changed by future legislative action.
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after November 1, 1999.
